Moving into a new home

We are selling our house at the moment and it has got me thinking about what our home was like when we first moved in. We bought a project and were very eager to make it our own. We set about doing work on it immediately. I think though, that there is some merit in waiting a little while, as hard as that can be. Taking time to get to know the new building you call home is worth it. That can be about knowing its history, as that can play a key part in interior design decisions. But also the physical side of things; work out where the light comes in at different times of the day. Where do the shadows play? Where do you get the best views of the outside?
And get to know how you live in it. Where do you like to eat for example, is it in the kitchen or in a separate dining room? Is a reading chair with a lamp your idea of heaven or is it about comfort in front of the TV? And don’t be swayed by what you think it should be like. Should is a terrible word, ultimately our homes must reflect who we are. Enjoy creating you own space and making the most of the building that you live in.
